Pre-K in the Otselic Valley: news and updates

More is happening with Pre-K and preschool-aged students in Otselic Valley!

During the 2018-2019 school year, the Pre-Kindergarten class at O V will comprise up to 20 students, and will be staffed according to requirements indicated by the Office of Early Learning at the New York State Education Department.

The 2018-2019 Pre-K class at O V is technically full, but a waiting list is in place and registration forms (available in the Main Office for students who will be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2018) are still being accepted. We are aware of the potential for enrollment changes in case families’ plans change.  Space in this class is assigned in the order in which registration forms are submitted.

To accommodate the preschool needs of both 4 year olds who cannot attend O V’s Pre-K class AND 3 year olds, a community effort is underway to bring back the Pre-K program at the South Otselic Methodist Church. Work on this project is spearheaded by Amanda Widger and Nancy Stiles, and the class is expected to be taught by Ms. Williams.

Please note that while this is not an official school district initiative, it may be of interest to area families.

According to organizers, there will be a tuition fee to participate but fundraising to help reduce costs is planned. Classes will take place 3 days a week during the school year.

Please note that 16 students are needed to launch the new class. To confirm your interest, contact Amanda Widger at 315-653-0020/ or Nancy Stiles at 315-653-7728.

Thank you for your interest in early learning, interaction, and activities that provide an age-appropriate, affirming start to your child’s education.
