On November 9, 2017, OV's FFA and Jr. FFA members again presented the annual Veterans Day Program attended by area veterans, families, and students.
Our own Justin Rodda, District IV President, led the event to which so many contributed. FFA Officers solemnly made the Color Guard procession, visiting veterans were introduced, all members contributed to a presentation, OV's band and chorus provided music including a patriotic medley, and Whitney H. played taps.
The voices of our veterans were heard as each shared their name, rank, and years of service. Particularly memorable was Mr. Sheldon's expression of appreciation for military wives who "were, are, and always will be part of the military service." He also let us know about an honor coming to a 104-year-old family member of the Civil Air Patrol who will shortly receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.
This memorable event is prepared each year with our area veterans in mind, many of whom are connected to our extended school family. We hope that everything from the greetings that surround them to the music chosen help convey our respect and appreciation. It is fitting that Justin Rodda also thanked Mrs. Robinson who was able to sit among the veterans this year, now that she has retired from decades of teaching and organizing this annual event at OV.
Thank you, Mr. Barkman and all who helped with the many details intended to offer the biggest thanks of all: the veterans who served.
