From Mrs. Morse: conjunctivitis at O V

Message from Mrs. Norse, our school nurse:

"We have seen many cold viruses making their ugly appearance over the past few weeks. It is continuing to spread, as well as pink eye. We have several students out of school with pink eye at this time.

Conjunctivitis, or 'pink eye,' is an eye infection. It is highly contagious and can occur within 24-48 hours of being in contact with the germ.

The symptoms of pink eye are itching, pain, swelling, watery or colored eye drainage, and red or irritated looking eyes. If you notice your child has these symptoms, please keep him/her home and take them to their physician. Children may return to school when they have been seen by their physician, have been on their medication for 24 hours, and if their eyes are not getting worse.

Please remember to practice good handwashing and avoid touching your eyes. Thank you for your attention in this matter."
