Otselic Valley was one of 41 schools participating in the Business and Education Scholar Recognition Partnership Program and banquet held at SUNY Oneonta in May. The program, which is supported by major sponsors including NBT Bank, enhances relationships between the business community, schools, and institutions of higher and continuing education while recognizing outstanding achievement by a member of the graduating class and a mentor chosen by the student. This year's recipients from Otselic Valley were Brynley Smith and Mrs. Carolina O'Connor.

Space Camp is coming in August! Space Camp is coming in August!
 Free Space Camp for students who will be in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade is happening August 5-22 (Monday-Thursday), from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM.  Transportation, breakfast, and lunch are all available. Students will practice reading and writing skills while playing with enjoyable, challenging projects. One to one or small group tuturing will be available to students needing reading and writing remediation. It will be fun! Space is limited so places sign up ASAP.  Read More

Students in Pre-K through 6th grade may borrow up to 10 books or magazines from our great library to keep through the summer. Parents or guardians must sign the participation form, then books can be checked out from June 10 to June 20. All books are due back to school by Friday, September 13, 2019. Summer reading is easy, breezy, and a great help in keeping reading skills sharp and ready to go when the next school year starts. Enjoy your books, Vikings!  Read More

Sun protection matters, and Mrs. Stacie Morse, RN, our school nurse, has instructions for families about sunscreen use during the school day. A permission slip is available for children who wish to apply sunscreen at school, with or without the help of a staff member. Please also send a sun hat/cap to school, and a water bottle if you wish. We will encourage students to sit in the shade as needed and drink plenty of water.  Read More

Chenango County Dairy Princesses from O V
Congratulations to the newly crowned Chenango County Dairy Princess Paige Warren, the Chenango County Alternate Dairy Princess Cassie Agren, and the Chenango County Dairy Ambassadors Peyton and Skyler Graham. Their jobs are to promote the dairy industry and dairy products by speaking to school and public groups. Crowning occurred at the annual banquet held in Norwich on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Almost half of the Chenango County Dairy Court are Otselic Valley students!

Cameron wins the Scripps National Spelling Competition at Otselic Valley
In an exciting (yes!) 17 rounds, Cameron Bartlett won the spelling bee followed by first runner up Jacob Bunting and 2nd runner up Carlie Golden. Cameron will participate in the Regional Spelling Bee Competition on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at SUNY Oneonta, Goodrich Theater. Congratulations everyone, and good luck Cameron!
