Dear Otselic Valley:
The Governor announced today that online learning will continue for the remainder of the academic year as school and college campuses will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 academic year. A decision about summer school is expected by the end of May.
School districts across the state are being asked to prepare reopening protocols for the 2020-2021 school year. It is anticipated that the creation of the district protocols will be informed by Executive Order and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Additionally, the New York State Education Department has cancelled the Regents Exams originally scheduled for August 2020.
We understand that these announcements lead to many other questions. Here at Otselic Valley online learning and food distribution are continuing, and we will update the community when further guidance from the New York State Education Department and the Governor's office is received.
We share your disappointment about all the ways this coronavirus has disrupted the school year, especially for the Class of 2020. Even so, we are working together every day to support students in all grades. Viking Pride is alive and well in the Valley. Watch for updates.
