This morning Otselic Valley Central School went into a lockout on the recommendation of our Safety Resource Officer (S R O) due to an incident in the community. In a lockout no one is permitted to leave or enter the building, but in this case, and based on a recommendation from our SRO Deputy Bowen, it was determined to be safe to escort B O C E S students to and from their buses.
We have been advised by Deputy Bowen and a lead detective from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office that there is no longer a threat in the community, and the lockout has been released.
At no time were our students and staff in danger. All precautionary measures were taken, and our staff demonstrated exemplary preparedness in ensuring our students' ongoing safety.
