At the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, Mr. Mike Drahos was named Interim Superintendent of the Otselic Valley Central School District beginning July 1, 2020.
Mr. Drahos retired after serving ten years as the superintendent for the Morrisville-Eaton School District in 2016. Since retiring he has served as an interim superintendent and elementary principal at Afton, and the interim secondary principal at Stockbridge Valley. He also served as the executive director of the Literacy Coalition of Madison County. Prior to Morrisville-Eaton he was a principal in Madison, a curriculum coordinator for the DCMO BOCES, and served 22 years as a teacher/coach/advisor in Central New York.
He is currently a member of the Morrisville Lions, the Sherburne United Church of Christ, and a volunteer for Camp Lookout, having served on its Board of Directors until this past spring.
During the winter he and his wife, Patricia, leave their home in Sherburne and stay in Florida where he volunteers at Give Kids The World Village, a place where kids with critical illnesses and their families stay as part of a “Wish” vacation in the Orlando area.
Mike and Pat have two grown children. Their son, Joshua lives in Clinton and is the Director of Student Activities and Leadership at PrattMWP College of Art in Utica. Their daughter, Emily, is an engagement specialist for ITX, a small technology company in Rochester.
Mike is looking forward to meeting students, staff, parents, and community members and becoming part of the great Otselic Valley Learning Community in his role as interim superintendent.
