Otselic Valley Central School is proud to announce that art teacher Mary Ellen Cantrell has once again been awarded a 2025 Grants for Teachers award from the Chenango Arts Council. This marks the second year in a row that Ms. Cantrell has earned this award.
With support from this year’s grant, Ms. Cantrell will guide fourth grade students in creating coil pots during art class, with assistance from OV art teacher Miriah Lawrence. Students will spend several class periods building their pots, which will then be glazed and fired in Ms. Cantrell’s kiln.
Otselic Valley extends heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Cantrell for this achievement, and gratitude to the Chenango Arts Council for making programs like this possible. Together, they help ensure that the arts remain a vibrant and meaningful part of the OVCS student experience.
