Otselic Valley staff attended the Rural Education Collaborative Conference: Educating for the Future on Friday, October 10th, at SUNY Oneonta. The event brought together educators from across the region to explore innovative teaching practices and share ideas that support the unique strengths of rural schools.
New York State Commissioner of Education Dr. Betty A. Rosa opened the conference with welcoming remarks that set the tone for a day focused on collaboration, innovation, and student-centered learning.
The keynote address, โMake Learning Epic: Using Purpose to Inspire,โ was delivered by educator and author Trevor Muir, who shared powerful stories and strategies to help educators foster authentic, purpose-driven learning experiences. His message was both energizing and uplifting, reminding participants of the lasting impact teachers have on their studentsโ lives.
Throughout the day, staff had opportunities to attend breakout sessions and workshops on topics including technology integration, the Portrait of a Graduate framework, and innovative teaching mindsets.
It was a meaningful and inspiring day of professional growth, reflection, and connection for all who attended.
