Otselic Valley Students Engage in Hands-On Learning Through FUSE Studios

Students at Otselic Valley Central School are exploring creativity, problem-solving, and digital skills through the use of FUSE Studios, an interactive STEAM platform designed around choice-based learning and student-driven challenges.

Currently implemented in grades 4th through 8th, FUSE allows students to select from a variety of guided digital challenges that support learning through exploration and real-world skill development. Library Media Specialist Katy Charles recently worked with 8th grade students as they navigated different FUSE challenges based on their individual interests.

Some students focused on 3D modeling, while others created animations or worked through 3D printing projects. Each challenge is structured with step-by-step guidance, allowing students to move at their own pace while building technical proficiency and problem-solving skills.

An additional feature of FUSE allows students to see which peers have already completed specific challenges. This helps foster collaboration, as students who may need support can identify classmates to ask for assistance, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and teamwork.

Through FUSE Studios, students are provided with engaging opportunities to expand their skills, explore new concepts, and grow as learners, with the support and guidance of staff who help facilitate these experiences.
