Students in the elementary wing had an unexpected educational experience when a swarm of honey bees relocated to an area outside Mrs. Marston’s classroom.
Thank you to OV parent Mr. Beeman, who took time out of his schedule to safely collect and relocate the swarm. Students had a front-row seat as they watched the beekeeper at work right outside the classroom window!
We’re happy to report that all of the bees were safely relocated and no one was hurt. Thank you again to Mr. Beeman for helping out and giving students a unique experience they won’t soon forget!

Kindergarten students recently enjoyed an exciting field trip to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo Syracuse! Throughout the day, students explored exhibits, observed animals from around the world, and had the opportunity to learn more about wildlife and habitats outside of the classroom.

We started our Friday the OV way with the Pledge of Allegiance and a patriotic song, followed by student shares from each grade, including the weather and lunch menu. During Kids with Character, a student shared about being courageous. Students also shared funny jokes that brought plenty of smiles and laughter to start the day. We also celebrated some special OV birthdays today -- Happy Birthday to Jessa, Joseph, Emma, and Gavin!
We also recognized our OV Shoutouts as teachers from each grade celebrated students for their positive contributions and accomplishments. Congratulations to all of our students who were recognized!
Our OV’s Got Talent performances featured two wonderful showcases. First, Mrs. Guyer’s Pre-K class performed Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Lillian Bishop served as Narrator and Director, while Jaelyn Straight played Mama Monkey. The monkeys were Lawson Arnold, Keagan Haitian, Beau Wood, Huntleigh Mills, and Lillian Sheldon. Doctors included Tessa Beaudoin, Nikolai Coye, Dalylah MacLaury, Sawyer Yaddow, and Asa Duell, while Blaine Allen, Ashton Hillman, and Nicholas Hackett served as Ambulance Drivers. They all did an amazing job bringing the story to life!
Our second OV’s Got Talent showcase featured the Double Dutch Dancers, who performed routines to "Double Dutch Bus" and "Lush Life." They did a fantastic job and wowed the audience with their performance!
We also celebrated our third grade students for participating in the Trout in the Classroom program, and each student received a certificate recognizing their involvement. Thank you to Mr. Gross and our representatives from the Fishing & Heritage Association for helping support this experience and for sharing more details about tomorrow’s Fishing & Heritage Day happening right here in South Otselic.
Superintendent Brian Collier also revealed the winning OV t-shirt design created by Daniel Mowers and celebrated the pride our school community has in OV. A huge thank you to Mrs. Bishop and Mrs. Shoemaker for helping with the shirts. Every student received one of these amazing shirts and is encouraged to wear them proudly!
Thank you as well to our OV staff volunteers who continue organizing the Morning Programs we all enjoy so much.
Reminder for families: we only have two Morning Programs remaining this year: May 29 and June 5.
What an amazing way to start our Friday!

|| Our 2nd Graders Brought Animal Habitats to Life!
Second grade students have been learning about animal habitats and recently showcased their creativity with amazing shoebox dioramas! Students researched different habitats and then used their imagination and hard work to create detailed projects at home with support from their families.
Today, after Morning Program, families had the opportunity to visit the second grade classroom for a special habitat showcase. Students proudly wore nametags identifying themselves as "Habitat Experts" and shared their knowledge by explaining their projects, answering questions, and teaching visitors all about the habitats they created. It was wonderful to see students confidently sharing what they learned!
We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and enthusiasm our students put into these projects. Great job, 2nd graders! A special thank you to Mrs. Marston for creating such a fun and engaging learning project, and thank you to our families for supporting students throughout the project and joining us to celebrate their hard work today.
