Today not one, but TWO of our Viking elementary classes were rewarded for perfect attendance.
Since the beginning of the year, our elementary cohorts have been challenged to do their part in elevating attendance performance which has translated to increased classroom engagement, enhanced participation, and curriculum continuity.
When classes reach the first letter "D" in ATTENDANCE, they are rewarded with a classroom dancy party. Bonus: When classes reach the final letter "E", they get to vote on an EXTRA awesome class activity.
Let's be honest, everyone appreciates a good-vibes only dance party... including Mr. Collier and Mrs. Richards!

This Friday and Saturday the OV Drama Club presents the Anne Coulter Martens' adaptation of Alice in Wonderland for TWO performances!

|| HALLOWEEN PARADE UPDATE
TOMORROWS' THE BIG DAY...and the weather looks perfect!!
The OV Halloween Parade will commence at 1:30 p.m. outside the school, so be sure to prepare your students with an appropriate costume if they're participating.
**Please note the time change from the October Elementary Newsletter**
•NO weapons
•MUST adhere to the OVCS code of conduct
•Following the parade, students may be signed out at the main office (STUDENTS WILL NOT BE RELEASED FROM THEIR CLASS DURING THE PARADE)
As a matter of safety, we kindly ask that you DO NOT send your student(s) to school dressed in their costumes.

This morning during Viking FLEX the Mrs. Raymond's 9th grade students buddied up with the Mrs. Stocklosa's 1st grade students to carve pumpkins.

|| SPECIAL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
Otselic Valley Central School Board of Education will be holding a special meeting this Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 7 p.m. for the purpose of appointing a new Business Official.
|| FAMILY FUN NIGHT POSTPONED
Due to toady's school closure, the Halloween Family Fun Night event that was scheduled for this evening (10/25/24) has been postponed to Tuesday, October 29th from 3 - 5 p.m.

UPDATE: Despite today's school closure, the OV Boys Soccer 2nd round Sectional game against the Poland Tornadoes will be played as scheduled.
Kickoff time: 6 p.m.

OVCS has pivoted to full-day closure based on recommendations from public safety officials working the scene of an accident at the intersection of County Road 16 and State Highway 26.

Otselic Valley will be operating under a two-hour delay today, 10-25-2024 due to an accident at the corner of County Road 16 and State Route 26.
Route 26 is closed to all traffic.
There will be no morning BOCES and breakfast will not be served today.

On October 28, Otselic Valley Central School will be administering a Youth Mental Health survey to students in grades 7-12. The data collected will help Chenango County establish more resources for our region.

Mark your calendars! Otselic Valley Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Friday, November 1st. Here's what you need to know:
🕖 7:45 AM - Retakes for AM BOCES students will happen before the bus leaves.
🏫 After that, in-school classrooms will have their retakes throughout the day.
📍 Location: Pictures will be taken in the Library.
If you're opting for a retake, please bring your original picture packet with you on that day. This is your chance to get the perfect shot!
