|| Celebrating Our OV Students at CTE Signing Day! On June 5th, several Otselic Valley seniors were recognized during the 2025 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Signing Day at the Alan D. Pole Campus. Much like athletes signing to play college sports, our students signed certificates committing to their future careers -- a powerful tribute to the value of skilled trades! Congratulations to our OV students, all from the Conservation and Heavy Equipment Program: • Aidan Brown-Smith, David Palmer, and Caden Fuller – Hired by Buckley’s Excavating • Ryley Palmer – Hired by Monroe & Shaver Contracting • Austin Brown – Hired by Integrity Lining Systems LLC They are all graduating with not only a diploma, but a clear career path -- and they’re ready to make meaningful contributions to our local workforce and economy! A heartfelt thank you to the families, instructors, Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES staff, and business partners who helped make this possible. The celebration wrapped up with photos and refreshments prepared by Culinary Arts students.

|| Spring Sports Recognition Recap On June 5th, the OV Booster Club held a special Spring Sports Recognition Program in the MPR to celebrate our student-athletes! Teams recognized included: • Modified Girls Softball • Modified Boys Baseball • DeRuyter Track • Sherburne-Earlville Baseball • OV Golf Thank you to everyone who came out to support our athletes and to the Booster Club for organizing this great event. We're proud of our Vikings and all they’ve accomplished this season!

|| Morning Program Highlights: June 6th, 2025 This morning marked our final Morning Program of the school year! And our students and staff brought all their Viking spirit to send it off right! We began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a patriotic song, followed by student-led updates from each grade level, including: • Weather • Lunch Menu • Jokes, News & Fun Facts Our 2nd grade students shared an awesome Kids with Character video, which you can watch here: https://youtube.com/shorts/6CPXYNW9JJM We also celebrated lots of June and July birthdays -- Happy Birthday to all! Each class gave special OV Shoutouts to recognize both students and staff! For this week’s OV’s Got Talent, we were wowed by: • Aurora performing the “Can-Can” on saxophone • Daisy, Aurora, and Maggie with a beautiful rendition of “Fast Car” • Ivy and her dog Rain showing off their amazing talent As always, we wrapped up the program with music and dancing! || Prom Night Magic at Stoney Creek Castle On Saturday, May 31st, Otselic Valley’s students gathered for a memorable evening of music, dancing, and celebration at the beautiful at Stoney Creek Castle in Earlville. Prom-goers arrived in style and were welcomed into an elegant setting for a night they won’t forget. || First Grade Builds a Lunar Lander! Our creative and hardworking first graders have been busy with an out-of-this-world project -- repurposing old newspapers to build a lunar lander model! Students carefully layered and rolled newspapers into logs to build the structure over time. The finished model even includes an airlock for entry, and today, they finally got to enjoy the results of their efforts! A huge shoutout to our first graders for turning recycled materials into something stellar.

We began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a patriotic song, followed by student-led updates including: • Weather • Lunch Menu • Jokes & Fun Facts Our 2nd grade students led a meaningful reminder about the importance of good character. We also celebrated some birthdays -- Happy Birthday to: Madisyn, Brodie, Nolan, Jaden, Piper, Alana, Elijah, Nolan, Reagan, and Chloe! For this week’s OV’s Got Talent and Classroom Showcase, Mrs. Young’s 4th grade class stole the spotlight -- dressed as bananas and dancing to “I Love Rock and Roll”! As always, the program ended with dancing and fun for all! Don’t forget: Our final Morning Program of the school year will take place next Friday, June 6th. We hope to see you there!

|| Help Improve Transportation Access in Chenango County Otselic Valley senior Caylene Russell is conducting a Civic Action project as part of her Economics class, focusing on how transportation challenges in Chenango County may contribute to poverty in our region. Hosted by the Class of 2027 Join us Wednesday, June 4th at the school for an afternoon of skating, snacks, and fun with friends! || Schedule: Pre-K - 4th Grade: 3:00 – 4:30 PM • Please send in your permission slip and payment in advance 5th - 12th Grade: 4:30 – 6:00 PM • May pay at the door Cost: $10 per skater -- Parents are welcome to skate too! || ThrowbackThursday to CATS at OV! In March 2007, Otselic Valley students transformed the stage, and themselves, for a spectacular performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS. The Multi-Purpose Room became a dark alley filled with felines of all shapes and sizes, thanks to the creative vision of Mrs. Sortman and her talented cast and crew. It was the first time CATS had ever been performed at OV, and it left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.

|| OV + Good Neighbors = A Stronger Community Over the weekend, our own Ms. Charles picked up food from the Good Neighbors Program to support our school community. With the help of some amazing OV students, the food was organized and distributed to classrooms. We're so thankful to Ms. Charles for going the extra mile, to our student helpers for their teamwork, and to Good Neighbors for their continued generosity. Acts of service like this remind us how strong our community truly is!

|| Kindergarten Reading Buddies! Our sixth graders took a special trip to the kindergarten classroom to listen to the amazing progress our youngest learners have made in reading this year. Each sixth grader paired up with a kindergartener, grabbed their bag of books, and got to hear just how far these new readers have come! It was a heartwarming moment filled with smiles and the joy of learning!

|| Don’t Miss It! 101 Dalmatians – The Musical! Our 4th and 5th grade students are getting ready to hit the stage for a tail-wagging good time in this year’s production of 101 Dalmatians! • Performance Date: June 11 •Time: 7:00 PM • Location: Otselic Valley Central School They’ve worked hard and are almost ready to bring the story to life with music, energy, and plenty of puppy charm. Come out and support our talented young performers -- we can’t wait to see you there!

|| New Vision Student Shares Research on Maternal Health Congratulations to Carlie Golden, an Otselic Valley senior enrolled in the New Vision Allied Health program at the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES Alan D. Pole Campus! Carlie recently presented her senior research paper and project titled: "Neglected: The Hidden Cost of Poor Maternal Care - and What We Can Do to Fix It." Her presentation explored critical gaps in maternal healthcare and offered insightful solutions for improving outcomes. Principal Mrs. Barber-Breese was in attendance to support and celebrate Carlie’s work. Carlie plans to attend SUNY Morrisville this fall to pursue her dream of becoming a Labor and Delivery Nurse. We’re so proud of her hard work, passion, and future-focused vision. Way to go, Carlie!
