Hope to see you there!

As part of the Senior Seminar, seniors planning to move into the workforce after graduation had the opportunity to practice interview skills with representatives from area businesses on Wednesday, January 15th.
In preparation for the day students developed their “elevator pitch,” updated resumes, and researched the local job market.
Thank you to Gordon Marshall, Sr. and Chelsea Mancuso from Suit-Kote, Dan Buckley of Buckley Excavating Inc., and Sergio Rapp owner of I LOVE New York Rookers for taking the time to work with the seniors to hone their interview skills and share their knowledge of what employers are looking for in a job candidate.
This was the first time an event like this was held for seniors and Mrs. Osowski, Ms. Slocum, and Mrs. Gorton are already planning for next year!

Due to the predicted colder temperature tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Otselic Valley will be on a two hour delay. No breakfast will be served and there will be no morning BOCES.
Stay warm and safe as you wait for the bus. Please stay inside until you see the bus. The bus will wait for you.

|| Doing Honorable Things
Back in December, National Honor Society and Jr. National Honor Society student members worked with Ms. Klien and Mrs. Osowski to create a Holiday Bazaar that gave students in the PK-5 an opportunity to shop for gifts for their immediate families.
Students created a list of family members they wanted to get gifts for. Honor Society students worked with students individually to shop and wrap their gifts. The shoppers were excited about finding something special and took pride in wrapping the gifts they found.
Ms. Klien, Mrs. O, and the Honor Society students want to thank all those who donated items, the custodial staff, and Mrs. Kurtz for supplying the chocolate snack for the wrappers.
The Holiday Bazaar was a huge success, and plans are already underway to continue the event next year and beyond.

Cold, Flu and Covid season is upon us. We are experiencing a large number of illnesses at this time. Please keep your children home if they are not feeling well. We have free Covid tests here at the school if you need them. As with any illness, children are to be kept home if they are not feeling well, have a fever, are vomiting, have diarrhea, a harsh cough, have generalized body aches with chills, or any of the other symptoms that go along with viruses or bacterial infections. Flu and Covid have the same return requirements. The student must be fever free without any medication for 24 hours, their symptoms are improving, and the student is feeling better. Please encourage adequate sleep, fluids, and proper nutrition to help ward off and fight these illnesses.
Water is provided for students at the filling stations. Please send your child to school with a water bottle. Students are not allowed to carry medication or cough drops. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our school nurse, Mrs. Morse at ext:4006 or her email smorse@ovcs.org.

|| Buddy Card Making
Our OV high & middle school students buddied-up with elementary students this morning to craft some beautiful holiday cards.
This collaborative activity creates thoughtful messages through creativity as an outreach initiative, and cards will be delivered to various organizations such as the Norwich Nursing Home, The Oneida Center in Utica, The Chenango Valley Home, and U.S. Veterans just in time for the holiday.
Our resident Grinch was even on board with the Christmas vibes.
Just one more feel-good activity that helps Otselic Valley stand out by promoting positivity in our community!
