The OV Lady Vikings put up a strong and determined fight at Brookfield on Friday. The backline and hardworking midfielders were relentless, successfully stopping multiple attacks and keeping the game close at 1-0 through halftime. Despite facing injuries and illness that left the bench short and dealing with unseasonably warm weather, the team showed incredible resilience. In the end, they fell 3-0, but not without a tremendous effort. Senior keeper Carli Golden was outstanding, making an impressive 25 saves, showcasing her talent and dedication. Lady Vikings will have two shots a redemption later this week: A Tuesday home turf match at 4:30 p.m. vs. Madison, and a Friday evening match Vs. S-E at Blackhawk Stadium in Oxford, also at 4:30 p.m.

UPCOMING SAFETY DRILL Dear Otselic Valley Central School District Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s), The safety of our students and school staff is very important to us. One of the ways we stay safe is by holding school safety drills. To help us practice and learn, we will be having two safety drills soon: (1) evacuation and (2) lockdown. Before we practice a drill, we teach students and staff what they need to do. We talk about how the drill will be announced and we always inform students and staff that it is a drill. These drills serve as a valuable learning experience, helping to ensure that our students and staff are familiar with building procedures and can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. If you have any questions about the drills or other safety concerns, please contact the Otselic Valley Central School district office at 315-653-7218.

The Rev Theater Co. Brings Adventure to Otselic Valley’s 4th Graders! This morning, the Rev Theater Co. treated Otselic Valley Central School’s 4th grade classes to an engaging performance of Journey to the Center of the Earth in the MPR. The world-premiere adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel brought the students on a thrilling journey below the Earth’s surface, where they followed the fearless Professor Lidenbrock, his nephew Axel, and a student named Hannah as they unlocked ancient mysteries. Throughout the performance, the students eagerly joined in, helping the characters break codes, explore hidden depths, and escape the dangers of the underground world. It was an exciting, interactive experience that left everyone captivated. Be sure to check out the photos from this fun-filled event!

Last week, the Otselic Valley Central School Band held its annual Instrument Petting Zoo for 4th graders! This special event gave future band members the chance to try out a variety of instruments they've been learning about in music class. High school band members led stations, helping the students make their very first musical sounds on instruments ranging from woodwinds to brass and percussion. A hands-on experience like this helps spark the joy of music, and we’re excited to see which instruments our young musicians will choose! Check out our photos of one of the two sessions! #MusicEducation #FutureMusicians #OVCSD

VIKING SIGHTING! Kevin Purtell was a member of the Class of 2024, but you didn't see him at his high school graduation ceremony. When his name was called and his diploma was awarded, his mother proudly accepted it on his behalf because Kevin wasn't home. Instead, Kevin had already answered a call: He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was asked to leave early to begin his training at boot camp in Parris Island, South Carolina. Kevin successfully completed both 12 weeks of boot camp and the harrowing “Crucible,” a 54-hour challenge that tests physical stamina, mental toughness, and the ability to think critically while under multiple levels of stress including hunger, sleep deprivation, and physical exhaustion (https://www.mcrdpi.marines.mil/Recruit-Training/Crucible/). Through these demonstrations of strength, fortitude, endurance, and character, Kevin officially earned the title of United States Marine. He is now pursuing aviation mechanics in service to our country. We couldn't be more proud of our hometown hero who continues to demonstrate his strength, focus, and commitment to serve. Thank you, Kevin. Semper Fi ("Always Faithful")! #VikingPride

Last week, Ms. Stoklosa's first graders worked hard on building their reading stamina! The challenge was to stay focused and read for a full three minutes without getting distracted—and guess what? 88% of us nailed it! Next week, we’re aiming even higher, trying to read for longer. Our ultimate goal? Ten minutes (and beyond!) of focused reading for 100% of our class. Keep cheering us on! 💪📖 #OVPride #ReadingGoals #FirstGradeRocks #StaminaSuccess #FutureBookLovers
