GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER HOLDS THE LINE V. FABIUS-POMPEY > "The Girls Varsity Soccer team played a well fought game against Fabius-Pompey for a 1-1 draw in double overtime. The amount of determination that was shown to play through all the way to the end with those extra minutes was immense. Susannah Lyon scored the lone goal for the Vikings from a cross from Kimmy Miron-Blanco. Paige Will maintained a strong defense. Carlie Golden was on fire in the goal and shut down a PK! Nice work ladies. Time to work hard for another busy soccer week. We are away Monday, and back home Wednesday and Saturday! The team truly appreciates the amount of Viking support that was there for the game. Thank you to those who put the time and effort into making these games possible. From scheduling the games, coming out in the chilly weather to maintaining the field, setting up/ fixing the lights, serving food, cheering us on, running the clock, retrieving balls, etc. It is a team effort that does not go unnoticed! GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS MCGRAW IN SHUT OUT > "Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer team on their WIN against McGraw 4-0. It was a slow start to the game with only 1 goal scored in the first half. Momentum picked up for the second half and the girls communicated and had great ball movement. Defense held the line strong and midfield and forwards had a dominating presence. Rachel Loomis scored 3 goals (a hat trick) and Kimmy Miron-Blanco scored a goal also. Carlie Golden was quick to the ball, denying Mcgraw from many shots. Nice work ladies! The girls play again tonight under the lights against Fabius- Pompey at 7pm. NOTE FROM YOUR TAX COLLECTOR > A Note from your Tax Collector: Did you receive your tax bill for school taxes? Several have been returned as โ€œundeliverableโ€ or โ€œNo such address," or โ€œUnknown." Please note that tax bills are printed by Chenango and Madison Counties. If your address is incorrect, you need to contact your assessor to get it fixed, which is why I canโ€™t fix your address in the tax collection program. If you havenโ€™t received your tax bill, call the Tax Collector at 315-653-7218, ext. 4042 and one can be reprinted and mailed to you. There is still time to pay your taxes before the penalty kicks in (mailed taxes must be postmarked on or before October 2, 2023 to avoid penalty). Be sure to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like a receipt mailed to you. If you own more than one parcel, you can write one check for all parcels combined. HUMANITARIAN DAILY RATIONS EXPLORED > "Last week, the 20th Century Conflict class enjoyed a Humanitarian Daily Ration. 20th Century Conflict is a high school elective where students learn about the major U.S. conflicts of the 20th century, and make connections to current events. As a part of the class, students sampled a Humanitarian Daily Ration, or a daily meal that U.S. Service members provide to locals in conflict areas. The meal included the following items: Unfrosted maple and brown sugar pop tart Vegetable cracker Shortbread cookie Oatmeal cookie Vegetable and rice entrรฉe Barley stew entrรฉe Peanut butter spread Jelly spread The was sealed in pouches to be bale to preserve it for long periods of time. The options in the Daily Rations are mainly vegetarian to meet the dietary restrictions of the various local populations. The students described the food as similar to 'cold condensed soup, without water.' While the entrees were generally not well received, the oatmeal cookie and peanut butter spread were a hit!" --Mr. Wentworth #CreativeClassroom #HumanitarianDailyRation #SocialStudies #WhatItsLikeElsewhereInTheWorld #ImagineOtherLives #20thCenturyConflict #ThankfulForWhatWeHave #TryIt #GrahamCrackersAreAlwaysGood
