CALENDAR CHANGE >
At the BOE meeting last Thursday, the board voted to make MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2024 a give-back snow day, with NO SCHOOL. This change extends OV's spring recess, and it also makes it easier for families to observe the solar eclipse (but protect your eyes!).

IMPORTANT CAMP OSWEGATCHIE TRIP UPDATE:
The bus will still be leaving today (Monday, March 11, at 2 pm) for those students going to Camp Oswegatchie. Parents will need to transport students to school to get the bus. Bags still need to be checked so arrive by 1:30 pm.
Attention Ski Club members: Labrador and Song Mountain are open some days and closed other days. Your pass will allow you to ski at either place. Check on-line to see if one or both of them are open if you wish to go skiing. There will be no more buses for the Ski Club, but your parents can take you if the hill is open.
Otselic Valley is now CLOSED on Monday, March 11 due to inclement weather. (Updates about the Camp O trip will follow later.)
Due to the inclement weather, Otselic Valley is on a 2-hour delay today (Monday, March 11). No breakfast will be served, and there will be no morning BOCES.

ALL ARE INVITED TO MAPLE WEEKEND >
The community is invited to experience the “maple mayhem” of maple weekend on March 16/17, 2024 at Whistlin' Dixie Maple in Smyrna, NY.
Mr. Alan Gnau, who is also OV's bus mechanic, is a professional maple syrup producer, and he has a wealth of information to share. "I will have all the equipment on display, and will be boiling fresh syrup," he told us. "Free samples and snacks made with syrup from the farm will be available. I will also be demonstrating and explaining the whole process from start to finish."
DATE/TIMES:
Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 from 9 am - 5 pm.
LOCATION:
Whistlin’ Dixie Maple
670 German Hollow Rd
Smyrna, 13464
[This is not an official district event, but it will be of interest to many in our community. Thank you, Mr. Gnau!]

It appears there is a widespread outage affecting our district Facebook page, and all Meta platforms as far as we're aware (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, some YouTube). We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will use our district website to stay in touch as needed.
When the Boys Basketball team headed to sectionals over winter recess, the Otselic Valley Booster Club celebrated them with a send off and a very special Viking bus. Booster Club members wanted to inspire our Vikings, and Mr. Gross helped by choosing quotes that were displayed inside. Many quotes were timeless, and we'd like to share them with all our Vikings over time. Many thanks to the OV Booster Club and Mr. Gross!

HEY VIKINGS in grades 6-12:
"After School is open tomorrow (Tuesday, March 5) from 3-5:15pm! Would you like a quiet space to work and study, or extra help on homework or labs? Plan to stay after school!"-- Ms. Beck

This past Sunday was Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day so the Sunshine Committee gives a shout-out to OV's incredible bus maintenance staffperson, the one and only Alan Gnau. Alan makes sure our buses are in top shape and that they stay running smoothly. Thanks to Alan for keeping our students and staff safe and for helping out wherever possible.
