|| Pumpkin Math in First Grade!
Our first graders put their math skills to work with a fun fall twist -- Pumpkin Math! Students counted seeds, measured weight and circumference, and even tested whether their pumpkin would float or sink.
Their results?
• 24 lines
• 549 seeds
• 34-inch diameter
• 12.3 pounds
And yes, it floated!
They wrapped up the activity by carving a pumpkin face and showing off their best spooky smiles. What a fun, hands-on way to learn!

|| OV Athletes Make Their Mark with the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves
Otselic Valley seniors Lukas Schieferstein and Dustin Perry recently completed their first season as members of the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District football team and each had very successful campaign.
Lukas’ first varsity season was one of the most successful campaigns by a Timberwolves player in recent memory.
He found a way to score in every game this season and in a variety of ways. His 9 touchdown receptions this season tied a program record. He had 3 more rushing touchdowns. He had an interception return for a score and he returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
He also made 13 of 15 extra points.
He set the all-time program mark for receiving yards per game at 101.7 yards per contest and finished second all-time with 712 receiving yards in a single season.
Lukas was beloved by his teammates and despite the fact that he only played one year at S-E, he was named a team captain prior to the start of the year by his teammates.
Dustin had never played football before and a nagging ankle injury early in the season limited him, but by the end of the year he had worked his way into the offensive and defensive line rotations and ended up making 4 tackles over the final two games.
S-E Coach Steve Franklin said “We were so glad to have Lukas and Dustin shine for us this fall. Not only did they do great things for us on the field, the way they gelled with their teammates and bonded with them was exciting to see. They were a huge part of our family and we hope we can continue that success with future Otselic Valley athletes!”

|| Creative Fun in First Grade!
Just in time for Halloween, our first graders had a blast during their group OT time creating their very own spider models!
With help from Mr. Harvey, students painted their spiders, used tweezers to carefully add eyes, and chose just the right legs for their creatures. It was a fun, hands-on way to build fine motor skills -- and spark lots of smiles and laughter along the way!

We celebrated our OV Stars for showing Respect! Congratulations to Jaelyn, Lyra, Jasmine, Asher, Charlie, Nolan, Ava, Charlotte, Hannah, Nolan, Ian, and Clay!
And to finish on a high note, Amelia wowed us all with her performance of “You Belong with Me” during OV’s Got Talent!
