Yearbook members cannot be at all places at all times. If you have a great picture of students that you would like to share for consideration to be in the yearbook you can share it with us through eShare. This will help us to make sure that all students are represented. Just follow the directions in the Flyer.
Thank you for helping us to make this the best yearbook ever.

A big thank you to Terry (Class of 2021) and Britinie Rounds from Rounds Masonry for speaking with the Senior Seminar class on October 3 as part of the Career Exploration Series. Terry shared his experiences as a mason, while Britinie discussed her role as an office manager. Together, they offered valuable insight into owning a business, networking, customer service, what they look for in employees, and how high school courses can connect to careers in masonry and office management. We truly appreciate them taking the time to share their knowledge and real-world experience with our seniors!

Seniors attended the OCC SUNY College Fair on October 7 as part of their Senior Seminar. The event gave students a great opportunity to connect with college representatives one last time, ask questions about applications, financial aid, and scholarships, as well as tips about housing, athletics, and extracurriculars. With college applications being finalized seniors will move to the next item on their checklist, FAFSA.

Over the past couple of weeks, our preschool class has been loving our apple themed unit, and we wrapped it up with a classroom event to showcase what the students have been learning. We invited families to join us, and the students were so excited to share their work and learning experiences with their families.
The event featured eight interactive centers designed to reinforce skills across ELA, science, math, and fine motor development. Here's a brief overview of the key concepts explored:
• Letter A: Students practiced identifying, writing, and producing the sound of both uppercase and lowercase “A,” connecting it to words like “apple.”
• Parts of an Apple: Using magnifying glasses, students examined apple parts up close. The parts were skin, flesh, seeds, stem, and core. They were amazed to find the “star” shape inside when the apple was cut crosswise.
• Apple Life Cycle: We learned how an apple grows from a seed to a tree that produces fruit. Students sequenced the stages through hands-on crafts.
• Types of Apples: We explored the different colors and varieties of apples and compared their textures and appearances.
• Apple Taste Test: Students and families sampled red, green, and yellow apples, then charted their favorite. This incorporated simple data collection and early graphing skills.
• Fine Motor Crafts were displayed around the room: Several art activities, like making apple trees, apples and letter A crafts, supported fine motor development in a fun, engaging way.
The Apple Showcase provided a meaningful way for students to connect their learning with real-world experiences and gave families a chance to be part of the classroom community. It was a huge success and a lot of fun!

Carter’s Closet, named in memory of Carter Rood, honors his legacy through service and kindness. The Closet provides free clothing and essentials to OV students and families -- including shirts, pants, coats, shoes, and even formal wear for special events.
Thanks to the help of Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) students and Ms. Gorton, Carter’s Closet was reorganized into a welcoming, well-labeled space where everything is neatly displayed and easy to find. An additional elementary closet in Mrs. Hicks’ room offers smaller sizes for our youngest students.
All items are new or gently used and available at no cost to those in need. Carter’s spirit continues to inspire compassion and care throughout the Viking community.
