Merry Christmas from all of us at Otselic Valley Central School!

Remember the holiday card-making project completed by our Buddy Classes? Here's more!
"We have been getting thank you's from all the people we sent Christmas cards to. This is a physical card we got and I thought I would share it. Nice job with the cards!!"

REMINDER TO STUDENTS:
The Otselic Valley Board of Education policy about attending after-school events states that once you have entered the event, you are not allowed to leave and come back.

When you have a substitute who is fully into the holiday spirit--hello "Frosty"!--AND who reads a snowman book to Kindergarten, well of course Little Vikings will want to make more snowmen! (Thank you, Mrs. D and Mrs. B!)

SPIRIT DAYS BEGIN MONDAY!
Next week begins the countdown to Winterfest! Monday: Snow Day (wear white), Tuesday: Polar Express Day/PJ Day (school appropriate PJs, no blankets), Wednesday: Christmas Chaos (all your fave holiday clothes and accessories), Thursday: Swaggy Sweaters (ugly or beautiful!), Friday: Color Day (even grades wear green and odd grades wear red).

UPDATE:
The giraffe bus is running late this afternoon (Monday, Dec. 11).

SENIORS, CHECK XELLO >
For real! Mrs. Lyon has been collecting & posting scholarship information you can explore on your Xello account. It's free money for those with higher ed plans after graduation.
[Pro-tip: Scholarships have application DEADLINES.]

TONIGHT (Monday, Dec. 11) at 6 pm, please join us for the PreK-3rd Grade Sing-Along! This Otselic Valley tradition features students singing winter and holiday songs they've been practicing. Families are also invited to join their students on stage to sing along with select songs. We hope to see you there!

#ThrowbackThursday to the "Fancy Work" Club from the 1938 Centralian.
"The girls who were interested in fancy work formed a club with Mrs. Dietz as their leader. The girls have done embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. They interested the school by producing very pretty and unusual dishes made from confetti. The club meets on Tuesdays."

BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS REMINDERS >
Thursday, December 7:
--6 pm, Policy Committee meeting (in the library)
--7 pm, Regular Board of Education meeting (in the mirrored cafeteria)

Events like Spirit Week and Winter Fest don't happen automatically. They are carefully planned and presented by Student Government representatives, including those working together during today's Viking Flex period (the first part of the day before academic classes begin).
Thanks for all your hard work, everybody. We can't wait to see what you're working on!
[Pro-tip: Leadership, project management, resource management, problem-solving, and event planning--all of which are regularly accomplished by Student Government members--are skills of interest to potential employers and essential to entrepreneurship.]
